Born in New York City in 1926, Marsha Gurell cannot remember a time when drawing, sketching or painting was not an important part of her life. After studying art at the Art Students League with such notable instructors as Will Barnet, Morris Kantor and V. Vytlacil, Gurell went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts and two Masters Degrees from the University of Puerto Rico and New York University. Private study with Nora Speyer and Sidio Fromboluti finally launched Gurell into a unique style of her own. Bold & Brilliant colors mixed with a mystical yet whimsical movement. Each of her works are a blend of passionate artistry and mystique of a world we all somehow are able to recognize. Marsha Gurell's numerous exhibitions and One Woman Shows have spanned the years from 1958with the Phoenix Gallery group show in New York City through 2005 with her One Woman Show at the Piermont Flywheel Gallery in New York. Gurell continues to paint today in her New York City apartment. |
